Platforma Upgrade srdačno vas poziva na Interkulturnu zabavu na Trnju, 4. svibnja u Močvari, Trnjanskom nasipu i dvorištu Pogona Jedinstvo, odnosno šatoru Cirkobalkana.
Proslavit ćemo proljeće i početak petog mjeseca u likovnom radionicom, radionicom plesa i projekcijom filmova.
ZAJEDNO NA PLATNU: ZAJEDNO NA TRNJU
Radionica / dvorište Pogona Jedinstvo ili nasip, 12-15 h
Organizira: Operacija grad

ENGLISH:
Platform Upgrade cordially invites you to our Intercultural Party at Trnje, on May 4th in Močvara, Pogon Jedinstvo and the Cirkobalkana tent.
We will celebrate spring and the beginning of May with an art workshop, a dance workshop and a film screening.
TOGETHER ON CANVAS: TOGETHER ON TRNJE
Workshop / backyard of Pogon Jedinstvo, 12-15 h
Organized by: Operacija grad
Registration: free of charge at julijana@operacijagrad.net or by calling +385 95 535 4479
We invite you to an art workshop that will be held on Trnje, in the yard of the Pogon Jedinstvo, intended for all residents of the neighborhood, but also beyond, with a special emphasis on intergenerational socializing and connecting through art.
The theme of the workshop will be portraiture, and it will be done in a few possible techniques. If weather conditions permit, part of the workshop can be held in places in the neighborhood that mean something to the participants or inspire them. The idea is for participants to choose locations that inspire them and that will serve as a context for creating portraits.
The workshop will be led by painter Jan Jafo, who will initially present some of his works and talk about his own journey as a self-taught painter – about his beginnings, sources of knowledge and how he developed his style.
In the practical part of the workshop, participants will be divided into pairs, with the intention that the pair will not include people who already know each other. This is how portraits will be created – in dialogue, observation and mutual acquaintance – under the guidance of a mentor. At the end of the workshop, the portraits will be exhibited in the neighborhood – in the form of prints – to become part of the public space and a visual trace of joint creation.
Participation in the workshop is free, and materials are provided.
Everyone is welcome – regardless of age or experience in artistic expression.
AFRICAN DANCE WORKSHOP
Workshop / terrace of Club Močvara, 15 – 18 h
Organized by: URK Močvara and Operacija grad
Registration: free at julijana@operacijagrad.net or at +385 95 535 4479
The workshop leader Abi Mamadou Seydi is the founder of the Afro Badinya Association and has been involved in music and dance since his early youth. He comes from Senegal and is a member of the African Mandinka people, for whom dance and music are an important part of their cultural heritage, recognized by UNESCO. He currently lives between Krk and Zagreb, continuing to practice traditional West African dances and music.
He collaborates with numerous associations and institutions for children with disabilities because the rhythmic sound of African drums and dance has a therapeutic effect. He has attended numerous children’s festivals promoting the culture of the African continent throughout Croatia in order to encourage the development of more tolerant communities. As part of his many years of professional work, he has also improved his knowledge of various dance techniques, and in addition, he has been working in the fitness industry for years and has been involved in various entertainment activities such as fire spinning (poi).
Come and immerse yourself in the richness of African culture through the rhythms of West African dances and music! Abi, as their passionate promoter, will lead this dance workshop that is open to all ages. Through dance movements and the sounds of djembe and dun dun, you will discover how rhythm becomes a bridge between body, mind and soul. Abi says that the dance tradition is not only an art, but also a way of life that connects people with nature and promotes physical, emotional and spiritual health.
Join an event that celebrates life, togetherness and spiritual connection. Participation in the workshop is free and everyone is welcome – regardless of age.

18:00 “The Wire”
19:15 Discussion – pushback against migrants on the Croatian / Slovenian border
20:00 – 20:20 break
20:20 “Between Revolutions”
NOTE: films may contain difficult images and themes and are not recommended for children
“The Wire”
Barbed wire, installed in the beautiful Kup region between Croatia and Slovenia, has completely changed the lives of people who have lived there for years. The new dynamics of the region have become an arena of different faces that the time of crisis has given rise to. The wire now attracts far-right nationalists, human rights activists, local politicians, police patrols and border guards, migrants and refugees on their way to an imagined better life.
After the film “The Wire”, there will be a conversation with Igor Petričević, an anthropologist and sociologist from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, who, as part of his work, researches the treatment of people on the move at borders. The conversation will be moderated by Lucija Mulalić from the Center for Peace Studies.
“Between Revolutions”
A powerful hybrid film that tells the story of Romanian Maria and Iranian Zahra, who met in the 1970s while studying together in Bucharest and their long-standing passionate correspondence. The two women tirelessly corresponded at the crossroads of revolutions, protests and politically turbulent events that ravaged their countries. An intimate epistolary documentary, through intriguing and rarely seen archival footage, unravels the tangle of collective history, all the hope and disappointment that political transformations bring, and questions social taboos, repression and the position of women in countries where history was written almost exclusively by men.
Platform Upgrade is an informal network of civil society organizations from different sectors of activity (human rights, sustainable living, ecology, the field of culture, art and youth) coordinated by the organization Operation City.
